Droid, Jr.

I made this for a friend who is currently in the military - on request after posting the first one. This droid actually turned out to be about and inch smaller than the first one and therefore is dubbed, Droid, Jr.

Vinyl

This weekend my sister cashed in my promise to help her with vinyl at her house. I think it turned out great!

This is a magnet board for her family room.

Rag Rug #2

Attempt two at a rag rug - this one if for my bathroom. I ripped the strips into 1 1/2 inch strips and used the "P" hook again - I also made myself focus on making the knots more loosely. (I'm a very tight crocheter) And this rug turned out flat and perfect!

I started with a chain of 28 and then just increased three stitches on each end to make the oval shape. I staggered where the increases were on each end because I read it help to make the curve more even. This rug is about 3 feet long and took just more than 1/2 of the red and 1/2 of the cream sheet. I had some other cream sheets that I used, but not even 1/5 of one of the sheets. Total I would say it was just over one full king sized sheet.

My next project to figure out is a rug for around the toilet - I want to have a matching set! So the rag run project is to be continued!

Rag Rug #1

We recently 'upgraded' from a king size bed to a brand new queen size bed! So I have a bunch of king sheets that I won't be using any more. I decided this was the perfect time to learn how to make a rag rug.

First - my sheet stash...

Started by ripping a few into strips.
I did this at the direction of my mom and sister - (I was going to cut strips) the first rip will come out crooked, but the following strips are straight and perfect! This was much faster than sitting and cutting the strips however, mine were too thick and a little harder to work with. Next time they will end up 1/2 the size at least.

My finished strips...

I did not follow a pattern for this rug, I just increased and decreased with a "P" hook as I thought was needed. Because the strips were thicker and I didn't follow a pattern the rug is very heavy and a little lopsided. But I like it!

Halfway there...

The finished rug!!
This rug is for my sister and I'm going to work on my for myself as well.

Baby Converse

This is the last project I got finished over the long weekend! I got everything done I was hoping to, which is a first! I still have a large afghan I'm working on, and don't expect that to be finished for a few more months (due to the cost of yarn more than a lack of time)

I found this pattern on www.ravely.com and after trying one shoe made some adjustments - when doing these again (and I'm sure I'll have to do them again) I will cut out one round from the sole in order to make them a size smaller. These are for my friend who has a baby boy due in August. If I can master the pattern it will be my go-to baby bootie!!

Droid Robot

Yet another project finished this weekend!
In March a friend of mine at work found this pattern and hooked me up with it. (You can find it at: http://www.bethsco.blogspot.com/) My brother in law's birthday is coming up so I started this last week and finally got around to putting the finishing touches today.

I changed the pattern just a bit, I used black eyes instead of white and put the feet out front so he would sit down. (The site mentioned it's hard to get the legs just right for him to stand up)

Plarn Bag

I found a website while looking for patterns on http://www.ravely.com/ called http://www.myrecycledbags.com/. The website both shows you how to make plarn out of grocery bags - but also give you a million ideas of what to do with it when you're ready! I made this using the pattern on the site roughly - I did the first five rounds as the pattern and then just winged it. Very cool way to recycle the old grocery bags. My only problem is that I have already switched to using the 'green' bags for groceries and I'm going to have to put a call out to everyone I know to collect these for me.

The finished
PLARN!! Total of about 50 bags.

The finished bag!

Turtle

Well my father in law really like the first turtle I made, so I wanted to make him a turtle - but didn't want to do the same one. So I used this pattern, also from "Tiny Yarn Animals: Amigurumi Friends to Make and Enjoy" following the pattern exactly - although I think I fubbed the feet a little. Still it turn out cute and was a hit for his Birthday!

Hippo

I made this for my husband and it was my first time using 'safety eyes', I think it turned out so stinkin' cute! I LOVE the eyes and can't wait to use them in more projects.

I followed the pattern exactly from the book, "Tiny Yarn Animals: Amigurumi Friends to Make and Enjoy" - a book I highly recommend for those interested in amigurumi there are a bunch
of really cute animals and you'll be seeing more here in the future!

Two peas in a pod

The eyes look a little funky in the photo, but trust me they are super cute!

Baby Octopus

I found this cute pattern for a baby octopus and this is going on my desk - super cute. I have to make one for my hubby now and we'll have a matching set!

These are the three I did over the weekend - the blue one for hubby, red for my sister and the coral for my mom! The ribbons are for the charms they got for their birthday super cute!

Nubbie Scrubbie!!

So cute, I needed a wash cloth and found this on http://www.ravelry.com/, which if you are into knitting or crocheting is an invaluable site for patterns (both to buy and for free). This one was super easy and it only took me about 2 hours - and one skein of my favorite brand of yarn (Sugar & Cream).

I've love it!!

Ugliest Kitty Ever

Well I followed the pattern exactly, but this kitty didn't turn out like the picture! So I'm not posting the link because it sucked.

But I made it and I'm taking credit for it!

They can't all be winners.

Hot Chocolate

I finally got to making this little hot chocolate mug for my co-worker... It turned out to be the best one of the cups I've done so far.

Here is the link to the pattern: http://amigurumipatterns.blogspot.com/2009/03/little-cafe-con-lech-cup-from-amigurumi.html
Enjoy!

Naked Baby!!

Kellie has a 'bath time' doll and the clothing has gone MIA. Well I take that back, Kellie flushed the 'diaper' about a year ago and the shirt has recently been lost. So....I have been looking everywhere for some cute clothes for this doll with no luck, and I tried to find a cute pattern online for free and that didn't work out either - but it gave me a good starting point.
And now Kellie is old enough and has started telling me this kid needs to cover up!!

SO...
Underpants

Plus a cute purple dress with white ruffles

And a matching hat - equals a superfantastic outfit!!!
Kellie LOVES it!!
(I do to...)

King and Minions

My mom and I worked on these together and they were just kind of a learn-as-you-go type project. She did the bodies and I attached the faces, stuffed them and closed the up! They were for my nephews birthday and we decided it was the king (white one) and his minions...

Octopus

I found this pattern for free on http://www.lionbrand.com/ Kellie requested I make him brown and the finished product is super cute! I was thinking about giving him away, but was told by my husband and my daughter that he was too cute and was not allowed!!

Evening crocheting

Now if this isn't just the cutest pig you have ever seen! So cute! It took me about 4 hours - and well worth it! I got this pattern for free on www.redheart.com

Weekend Crocheting

I spent the weekend doing more crocheting - I took yesterday off because my hands were sore! But I finished the three projects attached.

Teacup - part two
I found a pattern for a 'mini-tea cup' and it was exactly what I was hoping the first one would be. I added the whipped cream from the first cup, because that's what made it awesome.

Turtle
I made this for my Grandma's birthday and she loved it! Actually everyone I showed this to loved it, so I can see myself make a few more in the future.

Bunny
I made this for my nieces birthday - it got rave reviews! The pattern didn't call for a scarf, but his neck was looking so small when I finished it so I added that.

Super cute!!

Back to the Craft

It's been a rough six months for me and I'm finally getting back on track! I am back to crafting, yay!!! We have temporarily moved into a smaller place and I'm storing all my scrapbook supplies at my mom's house :( So, for the time being I have gone back to my first love of crafting - crochet.

I have a bunch of photos I need to post - finished two blankets so far! But for now I'm posting two Amigurumi projects! Don't know what amigurumi is? I didn't either - until I sat down with my sister in law and she showed me a book filled with the most adorable crocheted animals. I looked up some free patterns online and now I'm hooked...hehe crochet humor.

1st attempt at Amigurumi - Teddy bear for my daughter, she has named him "Ferndie". This turned out a little big and I think that's because I learned to crochet in only one loop, if you don't crochet that means nothing, and he would have been 'tighter' if I'd gone through both.

2nd - Cup of coffee - this is just because I thought it was adorable and my daughter has now claimed it and named it "Tea Cup". This is also a little big for me, I again need to remember to go though both loops, and I'm going to cut 4 lines off so he's short and fat. I also need to do a better job attaching the handle closer to his face (you can't really even see the eyes or mouth in this photo) - so it looks more polished.

I can't wait to share more!!
